Jaisalmer Fort

Jaisalmer Fort is famously known as Golden Fort of Rajasthan. It was constructed by Raja Jaisal, Rajput ruler in the year 1156 AD. It ranks amongst the largest fort in the world. The Golden and Yellow mixed sandstone offers magical look to the Fort. Rising from the desert sands like a mirage, the Fort is a real sight with its 99 turrets during night. Gadi Sagar Lake

Gadisar Lake is located a kilometer away from the fort. It was constructed by the first ruler of the land, Raja Rawal Jaisal and later reconstructed by Maharawal Garsi in the year 1367 AD. The people of the desert city depended on this tank for their water needs. You will find temples, Holy shrines and Chattris around the banks of this lake. The artistically carved entrance made of yellow sandstone offers breathtaking view.

Haveli

Patwon-Ki-Haveli is located in the Jaisalmer main city. It was built by a famous trader named Guman Chand and his sons. This massive five-storied construction has five intricately decorated huge suites. The large corridors and the decorated walls are excellent representations of the art form that prevailed. The entire construction is made of yellow sandstone. The grandeur and the architecture of the monument add immense value to the cultural heritage of the city.

Sam Sand Dunes

Another name of Thar Desert is Sam Sand Dunes. To have a feel of the Desert, you need to undertake Desert Safari. Sam Sand Dunes is the ideal location to set off for the Desert Safari. You will love the safari on camel back that would take you along crests and troughs and you could watch the picturesque sunset / sunrise on the desert. Jeep safaris are available as well. Desert festival is organized in the months of February and March.

Jain Temple

Jain Temples are a series of temples dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras and can be traced back to the 12th century. The temples are are known for their distinctive architectural style modelled after the Dilwara temple of Mt. Abu. Beautifully carved and well interconnected, these temples are a vision to behold and are completely made up of yellow sandstone.

Kuldhara Village

An abandoned ghost town, Kuldhara village was once a prosperous town occupied by Paliwal Brahmins. The reason for why a whole city was abandoned within a night is not clear but the popular belief holds the then state minister Salim Singh responsible for the same. The minister wanted to marry the village chief's daughter and therefore delivered an ultimatum to the village chief to accept his demands or let the whole community face dire consequences.

War Museum

The Air force War Museum at Jaisalmer in the state of Rajasthan was mooted by Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Konark Corps, with a view to showcase India's military history and war time experiences. Jaisalmer district was chosen for its rich martial traditions and for being witness to numerous battles including the famous Battle of Laungewala in 1971. The task of constructing and setting up the Jaisalmer War Museum on an area of flat, barren ground, within the Jaisalmer Military Station, was subsequently undertaken by the Desert Corps of the Indian Army, under the guidance of Lieutenant Mathews.

Wind Parks

The Jaisalmer Wind Park is India's 2nd largest operational onshore wind farm. This project located in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. The project, developed by Suzlon Energy, was initiated in August 2001 and comprises Suzlon’s entire wind portfolio – ranging from the earliest 350 kW model to the latest S9X – 2.1 MW serie. Its installed capacity is 1,064 MW, which makes it one of world's largest operational onshore wind farms.

Bada Bagh

There are many places to visit in Jaisalmer, among them Bada Bagh is one of them. Bada Bagh means big Garden. It is a garden of cenotaphs or chhatris of the royal family of Jaisalmer. The garden stands at the foot of a hill and several chhatris or cenotaphs stand in memory of the late rulers of Jaisalmer. This garden also includes a tank and a dam, along with a Govardhan Stambh (pillar). The pillar was constructed for commemorating the construction of the nearby tank and dam. It is one of the Beautiful sightseeing locations of Jaisalmer.

Vyas Chhatri

Vyas Chhatri is an assemblage of golden sandstones, which stands as an edifice of Rajasthani architecture. It was built in order to honour Sage Vyasa, who compiled the 300,000 verses of the epic Mahabharata. His cenotaph is situated on the north of the structure. It is popularly known as the city's sunset point as it gives a birds-eye view of Jaisalmer. Located inside a structure called Bada Bagh in Jaisalmer, it is one of the most identifiable landmarks of the desert city.
